How to get quotes and dispatch a delivery:

Hit the plus button in the top right hand corner and select "External." 

Fill out the "Create Order" form with relevant details and click "Get Quotes": 

Select the fleet you want to use and click Submit.

A dispatch strategy is a set of rules that determines how deliveries are assigned—either to your own drivers or to external fleets (like DoorDash Drive, Uber Direct, etc.)

Think about how you want orders to be dispatched. The most common setups are:

Always use a specific provider (e.g., Uber) as long as they are available

Use different fleets for different types of orders (e.g., catering)

 select any Preferred Providers.
 👉 All orders will automatically go to the lowest-cost provider.
 

 select any Preferred Providers.
 👉 All orders will automatically go to the fastest provider.
 

 Save your strategy.
 👉 Orders will be dispatched to Uber first.

If Uber has no availability, orders will fall back to your next Preferred Provider. If no other Preferred Providers are set, the system will use your 

 Now that you created your strategy, you can tweak it so that Catering Orders or Large Orders are dispatched to a specified provider. 

 Assign that strategy to the locations or merchants that need it. \

Deliveries are defined as catering based on the following conditions:
1. they are created in FIRST as a Catering Delivery 
2. they exceed an order value set in the merchant profile (the default value is $500).

 👉 Providers on this list will never be dispatched orders, even as a backup.

. Each store can have its own custom configuration. 

Step 6: Get Support for Advanced Configurations (Optional)

FIRST allows more advanced setups—such as using your own staff for VIP customers or large catering orders.

Creating Your Dispatch Strategy

The first thing you want to do is ensure that Auto-Dispatch is enabled for your account with FIRST. This ensures that when you go-live orders are automatically dispatched based on how your business operates. 

To enable auto-dispatch, follow these steps:

Configure your dispatch strategy for your business (the default strategy is to send to the cheapest provider - see article 

Click on the radio button labeled "Ext. Fleets"

Then enter the "primary organization email" in order to verify the change. If you do not know where this email is, you can find it at on the settings

 >> global >> general >> company >> "owner email" field. 

It's important that your account has the right dispatch strategy - you can learn more about dispatch strategies and best practices 

each merchant can have their own dispatch strategy. 

Enabling Auto-Dispatch

How to Schedule a Delivery for a Future Delivery Time:

Click on the + button in the top right corner of dispatch to create a new delivery request, and choose if you want to assign this to your internal or an external fleet.

At the bottom of the request form, select Pick Up By or Drop By to select a date and time in the future. 

After you assign a fleet and submit the request, the order will be in the Scheduled section of dispatch until the scheduled time is near, when it will move down to the active sections of dispatch.

The search bar is a key function within the web dashboard. Currently the search function is only build to support searching for deliveries. In the future we plan to expand this to search for different information and setting across the FIRST platform. 

You can also use the search bar in the top menu on any page. You can use and of the following fields to find the order you are looking for:

There are also search bars throughout the platform on every key table view. These include the following tables:

 - in Table View dispatch, you can use the search bar to quickly pull up an order from any territory. Search by:

 - on the merchants page you can use the search bar to find the merchant profile you seek

- on a given merchant profile, you can click on "orders" and search using the same fields as on the "Dispatch Home" search bar. 

 - on the fleet bage you can use the search bar to find the internal driver profile you sse.

Using the Search Bar

External delivery fleets can reject quotes for a wide range of reasons. When an order fails to get assigned to an external fleet, this triggers an "auto-route failure", where you will receive an email with the error. 

When this happens you will want to take the following steps:

Open up the merchant app or web-dashboard, and attempt to assign to an external fleet

If the fleet you want is not available for assignment, there will be an error message written on the bottom of the assign modal.

click the BACK button and edit the order request to fix the error based on the error message. 

"Delivery instructions exceed 280 characters" 

"Address is not valid" - select the drop-off address that autofills from Google when you type it into the drop-off address field. If it doesn't verify address information and input it accordingly. 

View Rejected Quotes for an External Delivery Request

Click the plus button in the top right hand corner and select "Internal." 

Select the restaurant you want delivery for. 

Fill out the customer information accurately.

Click Submit and pick an internal driver from the  list.
