Setting up default Self-Assign Settings

Last updated August 24, 2025

In your territory settings you can set up "Self-assign" settings. This will enable your internal drivers to have the ability to claim their own deliveries. This is a useful setting to help automate your delivery workflows.

💡

Tip: this works well with Dispatch Strategies and the "auto-route delay" setting. For example you can set the auto-route delay to 5 minutes, which will give internal drivers 5 minutes to claim a delivery - once 5 minutes hits, orders will be assigned to an external fleet

How to set up your drivers to claim pending orders:

  1. Enable the "Self-assign" toggle
  2. Set the maximum amount of orders a driver can claim (note you can still assign more from the merchant app or web dashboard)
  3. Set the Distance from Pickup: The proximity in which a driver needs to be to the pickup location in order to claim orders - we recommend 2500 feet or 1/2 mile.
  4. Enable Notify drivers about pending orders - this will Send drivers a notification if there are unclaimed orders pending that they can claim

See the video below, to see how you can set this up in driver profiles:
