In August, we introduced a handful of improvements for our Toast integration, built new features for handling catering orders, new API functionality, and squashed some bugs.

🚀 New Features
Catering Dispatch Strategies:
- Each merchant can now have a "Catering Threshold", or an order value, where each order set to that value will become a Catering Order. This value is set in the Merchant Profile (default value is $500).
- You can now set “Preferred” Catering Providers in your Dispatch Strategy. For example, if a catering order goes to an external fleet, it will automatically dispatch to Dlivrd. If all preferred providers reject, the order falls back to your core strategy (e.g., Relay, or if unavailable, the Cheapest provider).
AI Recipt Parser:
- On the Merchant App, you can now request a delivery by snapping a photo of a receipt. We are leveraging ChatGPT APIs.
New API Fields:
- For external fleets, when deliveries are fulfilled fleets are instructed to "Meet at Door" if the customer answers, and if the customer is unresponsive - they are instructed to "Leave at Door". These fields can now be customized on a per delivery request.
⚡ Improvements
- Toast Updates:
- Tips - for call-in deliveries, you can now update the tip on the FIRST Merchant app, which will update the tip value on Toast.
- Driver Schedules - theres now no need to update blocks or shifts in FIRST. Shifts will automatically get started, and stop when drivers "clock in" and "clock out".
- External DSP Names - renamed to "Fleet x - FIRST" - this is reflected in the POS and updates the status when deliveries are assigned to drivers.
- Fulfillment Time Option - merchants now have the option to have FIRST listen to their prep times on Toast.
- Catering Dining Option - auto-classify catering dining options from Toast as Catering deliveries on FIRST.
- Web Dashboard:
- Improved load times - for customers who have thousands of restaurants, lagginess and load times have been improved significantly
🐞 Fixes
- SMS deliverability issue- we have an upstream technology vendor that we use for sending out tracking links. AT&T was blocking our messages, but this block has since been lifted
- Toast Scheduled Order bug - for scheduled orders, our system was setting the "fulfillment time" in Toast as the "deliver by" time. We fixed this so that the "fulfillment time" in Toast is actually set as the "pickup by" time, or when the food is supposed to be ready by
